The Backlash's music is made by a mix of shoegazing sounds, psychedelic atmosphere and britpop melodies.

The main influences on the style come from the Madchester Sound (Stone Roses, Charlatans), Britpop (Oasis, The Verve) and the alternative / indie rock of the 2000s (Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).
